AllMusic Review by K. Ross Hoffman [+] Although it inevitably falls somewhat short of the excellent and utterly original albums that followed it, the Knife 's self-titled (and originally self-released) debut does more than merely hint at the duo's potential. Complete Ella In Berlin: Mack The Knife songs Digitally remastered edition of this album from the Jazz pianist. Spirit of the New Land poignantly reflected the state of affairs in black America through explicit lyrics sung by his wife Jean and through the expert musicians' responses to life-altering societal developments in a hopeful time when the slogan Black Power carried real meaning!

This is my favorite album from The Knife. The songs are catchy and somewhat cheesy, but the unusual production makes them sound independent and unlike anything else. Karin's voice is quite unconventional. This is probably how the mermaid synthpop would sound if there was one/5(62).

The Knife spice things up in "Kino", which adopts a unique Asian feeling, and serves as a great mood-lifter from "Lasagna". The man behind the intrumentals of this team, Olof, lends his voice on "A Lung", and his voice is simply grating.

Formed in by the Swedish siblings, the Knife released their underrated self-titled debut in and made their breakthrough two years later with Deep Cuts, an album of tawdry, neon-soaked excess that spawned their biggest hit, the joyous “Heartbeats.”.
